24th May,2019 His Majesty King Tupou VI officially opened the Common Utility Building Complex ‘Lakalakaimonū this morning at Matatoa.
The office complex was facilitated through a loan from ANZ Bank amounted to more than $9.1 million Pa’anga. The complex is comprised of a multi main office building, a multi distribution network depot and workshop, a network supplier’s warehouse and a multi storage warehouse with a health and fitness facility.

Deputy Prime Minister Hon Sēmisi Sika said, “I would like to stress the fact that the payment of the cost for this Multi Utility Building Complex will not be borne by the customers of Waste, Water, Power and Gas but through the renting of all the offices of each respective utility that will become available once they move into this building complex.”

He stated that the name of the complex captures the common utilities vision, mission and values in “building a more resilient, sustainable and social corporate responsibility in the services we offer.”

Hon Sika said that the complex realizes the benefits of combining similar services such as billing, revenue collection and information and communications technology. It also brings utilities team together so that members can treat the business as their own, share best governance and corporate policies in line with the Ministry of Public Enterprises prospects and share the ‘know-how’ and programs amongst utilities specific to the work environments to improve the quality of services provided.
