25th March 2019 TONGAN The Trust Corporation Co. Ltd of Japan , Chairperson Mr. Masakazu Hatanaka, presented 20 Solar LED Security Lights to Ocean of Light and Acts Community School and 120 solar mini lights to the CEO of MEIDECC and Department of Energy Mr. Paula Ma’u.
Paula said the Solar LED security lights will provide security lights for the schools as the lights contain motion detectors, which detect motion 5 meters in front of it. Schools will also use less electricity at night, where solar lights use solar as their source of electricity.
He noted that the 120 solar mini lights will be installed in the rural and remote community that electricity lines cannot reach. It also carries a portable light as torch like, and a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port available for mobile phone charging.

“In April 2017, during the opening of the Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (PCREEE) Office here in Tonga, Trust Corporation Co, were present to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency in the Pacific regions. Ocean of Light and Acts Community School who provides items at the event inquired about solar powered lights for security purposes, as some school properties were stolen in the past.”
“These gifts will promote education and provide security for the schools as well as supporting the country’s objective on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency,” said Paula.
