Second Implementation Stage of the CCTF Program

01st August, 2018 The Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of MEIDECC, Mr. Paula Ma’u signed twelve (12) contracts last Friday 27th July, 2018 with suppliers and communities to mark the beginning of another implementation stage of the Climate Change Trust Funds (CCTF) program.

The agreements with the suppliers include four contracts with the Pacific Timber & Hardware Tonga (PTH), two contracts with Jones Industries Ltd.

The contracts are to supply building materials only, and the communities will supply in-kind and labourers to complete the work.

The other agreements are for the communities to be used for construction purposes, include four contracts of renovating the evacuation centre of Ngele’ia, Lapaha, Pelehake and Holeva Vava’u, one contract for building Fatumu’s concrete water tank stand and one for building GPS Folaha fence.

Coordinator of CCTF Mr. Feleti Fa’otusia said, “These contracts are funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under the Climate Resilience Sector Project (CRSP) program, and today we disbursed around T$300, 000.00 on these projects.”

He also said they are expecting to start the implementation of six community projects next week which are still pending until suppliers deliver the building materials on site.

The projects are required to be completed at the end of this quarter and the second call of CCTF program is expecting to be launched at the beginning of the fourth quarter this year, 2018.
