14th April 2016 Tonga Red Cross Society received fund donation from government of Tonga towards ‘Ofa-Tui-‘Amanaki Center, of TOP$50,000.00 this week.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mrs. Ana Bing Fonua represented the Ministry presenting the donation to Sione Taumoefolau. “It is indeed of great privilege to us, appreciating the hard work of the people at Ofa-Tui-‘Amanaki center towards the special Education in Tonga for over many years in Tonga, well done and this would assist in the prolonging the operation of the center”
In response to this great offer, Mr. Taumoefolau “extend our sincere appreciation for making our Special Education a great recognition to the government of Tonga, over many years, it was TOP1000 but in 2013 to 2014 OTA appreciated the Government contribution of TOP10,000 but in 2016 the recognition by the Government of the service that OTA provided to the disability in Tonga they kind enough to increase to TOP50,000 and do hope it will be the same in future due to cost of living in Tonga increase too”.
Ofa Tui Amanaki Center operated and served the kingdom of Tonga for over 3 decades, aiming at developing people with special needs. The center picks up students from Eastern and Western Districts four days a week. The fund donated by the government will assist with daily operation and maintenance of the center for 2016.
