Visiting of the Auckland Band Instruments, Tuesday, 30th May to Saturday 3rd June 2017

29th May 2017 The General Manager and selected senior staff, Auckland Band Instruments, Auckland, New Zealand will visit Tonga from Tuesday 30 May 2017 to Saturday 3 June 2017.

The visit is designed to continue build the national music capability of the nation especially the brass band instruments. The company has brought the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Principal Trombonist, Mr. David Bremner.

Mr. David Bremner was educated at the Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand and graduated with Bachelor of Music. He was awarded the prestigious Patricia Pratt Scholarship to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and graduated with a Master of Music degree. He also performed with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in California, USA and the London Symphony Orchestra in London, UK. He is a founding member of ‘Bonanza’ Trombone Quartet, and is Music Director of the 2013/14/15/16 Champion Band of NZ and 2015 Australian Champion Band, Wellington Brass.

Mr. David Bremner is heavily involved in music education in NZ, previously teaching trombone at the NZ School of Music for over 10 years, and is currently a trustee of the Kia Ora Foundation. He is also the presenter of Brilliant Brass on Radio Concert.

The Auckland Band Instrument Group will here to witness the secondary school brass bands performance that will march on during the opening of Parliament, Thursday 1 June 2017. Mr. David Bremner will hold a master class brass workshop on Friday 2 June 2017 at Queen Salote Hall at 2.00pm to 3.30pm. In the evening, Mr. David Bremner will perform an evening concert at 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Her Royal Highness Princess Salote Mafile’o Pilolevu Tuita and Lord Tuita will the guest of honour and the present of the New Zealand High Commissioner, Her Excellency Mrs. Sarah Walsh and other invited guests.

The local organizing committee is consisted of; Salvation Army, Tonga Red Cross, His Majesty’s Armed Forces and the Tonga Police. The performance is a charity performance and any donation will be contributed to the Tonga Red Cross and Salvation Army. Therefore, the general public is invited to attend the concert. It will be lived broadcast on FM 87.5.

The Auckland Band Instrument has been the main provider/supplier of musical brass instruments and repairing of the Royal Corps of Musicians as from year 1992. The professional work relationship is matured and well respected over the past 28 years. Today the professional work relationship is still continued on.
