31st March, 2022 The National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) under MEIDECC received one high cube container (40hc) of Huntley & Palmers (H&P) Sprouted Oat Crackers worth NZ$1,355 provided by local business, Narottam’s Company Limited as a donation from their principal – Griffins Food Company, New Zealand.
The container carries a total of H&P Sprouted Oat Crackers 18 x 180gm and was shipped via Capitaine Dampier to Nuku’alofa on March 4 as humanitarian relief for affected families.
CEO for MEIDECC, Mr. Paula Pouvalu Ma’u on behalf of the Tongan Government said, “Tonga is pleased to receive the assistance and support from local businesses who have also been affected by the HTHH disaster on January 15 and COVID-19 in the community.”
“These businesses work hard to support their employees and their communities here in Tonga, so to have that extra support from them is appreciated.”
He said the donation from Griffins through Narottam’s is now at NEMO’s warehouse for distribution.
Jilong store, another local business also generously provided a container full of sacks of sugar to be included in the food packages for distribution. This donation has already been included in the recent donations to the affected communities and those in isolation.
“We are grateful for these businesses to be able to support others although they were also impacted by the HTHH disaster and now the COVID-19 community transmission.”
