13th October 2016 Their Excellencies Ambassador Huang Huaguang and Mrs Wang Lili accompanied by Mr Jia Xiaopan the Head of Policy Division of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nuku’alofa presented to Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Sinaitakala Fanakavakilangi Tuku’aho, a check for TOP$20,000 to cover the prizes for the 2017 Langafonua ‘a Fafine Tonga Crafts Competition to be held on Saturday, 14th January 2017.
Announcements relating to the call for registration of participants for the inaugural crafts competition will be made this week three months ahead of the competition.
Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess was welcomed to Langafonua Building by members of the Executive Council and Langafonua Young Women Group. This is the first time Her Royal Highness has visited the Headquarters of the Tonga National Council of Women and the occasion was noted to be her first official duty as the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Langafonua ‘a Fafine Tonga, a role that is shared with Her Royal Highness Princess Mele Siu’ilikutapu.
The Crafts Competition is seen to be a major milestone toward creating a high quality standard of crafts for the tourism and the local market. It is anticipated that the Crafts Competition will become an annual event and will lead to identifying the best crafts artisans in the Kingdom.
