World Heart Day Specials

26th September, 2016 29th September is World Heart Day, and TongaHealth in collaboration with its partners from the Ministry of Health is hosting a series of radio and television shows with experts from various departments as well as a testimony of a man who almost succumbed to his heart condition before coming back to life with renewed strength.

The focus of Outcome 3 of the Hala Fononga – the ‘National Strategy For Prevention And Control Of Non-Communicable Diseases 2015-2020’ is on improved early detection, treatment and sustained management of people with or at high risk of NCDs, and CVDs or Cardio Vascular Diseases are included in this.

We invite you to tune in on the following days and times as we get our partners from the Ministry of Health to share their expertise. Tune in to get updated, informed and celebrate World Heart Day:

Monday 26th September , 2016

7pm on 87.5 FM: Join veteran heart specialist Dr. Sione T.Latu and Monica Tu’ipolotu of the Programs Division, TongaHealth for a 30-minute show that promises to “Power Your Life”!

Tuesday 27th September, 2016 Radio and Television shows:

5pm on 87.5 FM: Dr. Seini Kupu, renowned physician with Monica Tu’ipulotu, of the Programs division of TongaHealth for a one-hour talkback show. Tune in to get empowered and also have your doubts/ queries answered.

8pm on D.B.N. / Dulous Broadcasting Network: Heart specialist Dr. Sione T. Latu of Vaiola hospital and Owen Kami, a former high risk NCD person; in conversation with Monica Tu’ipulotu, Programs, TongaHealth about CVDs and the way to tackle the. Tune in at 8pm on D.B.N. and get equipped.

Wednesday 28th September, 2016

7:30pm, on 90.0 FM/ A3Z : Veteran heart specialist Dr. Sione T.Latu in conversation with Monica Tu’ipolotu of the Programs Division, TongaHealth about CVDs (Cardio Vascular Diseases) and how Tonga can win the fight against them.

Thursday 29th September, 2016 Radio and Television shows:

5:30pm, on 90.0 FM/ A3Z:  As a culmination of all the information and pointers that have been imparted over the last 2 weeks; Dr.Taniela Palu, renowned Diabetologist with Monica Tu’ipulotu, of the Programs division of TongaHealth will host a one-hour talkback show. Tune in to get empowered and also have your doubts/ queries answered.

8pm on D.B.N. / Dulous Broadcasting Network: A finales episode with Monica Tu’ipulotu, Programs, TongaHealth and veteran Dr. Sione T. Latu of Vaiola hospital on how to care for your heart and the heart of your near and dear ones. Tune in at 8pm on D.B.N. and get equipped.

The Hala Fononga is supported and funded by the Governments of Tonga, and   Government of Australia; co-ordinated and implemented by TongaHealth. The funding from the Government of Australia is part of the five year, A$2.1 million dollar (T$3.2 million) agreement, between TongaHealth and the Government of Australia to support the implementation of Tonga’s National NCD Strategy 2015 – 2020.
