19th July, 2019 The team from the Department of Climate Change in Tongatapu together with staff from other MEIDECC Departments in Tongatapu joined the MEIDECC Vava’u stall at the Royal Agricultural Show on Friday 19th July 2019, at the Niponi Field in Neiafu.
A short prize giving ceremony was conducted at the MEIDECC’s stall, to award the prize for the winner of the art competition, which was one of the activities during the National Climate Change Awareness Week.
Hon. Lord Fakatulolo, Governor of Vava’u, awarded the $300 cash prize and a certificate to the representative of the winner of the art competition: Mr. Viliami Va’enuku from Saineha High School.
The winner was pleased to have won the 1st prize and is looking forward to more climate change awareness in the future to build their knowledge about climate change impacts and how to increase climate actions, to save Vava’u.
The awareness week was made possible with the assistance of Ms. Lucy Fa’anunu (Officer in Charge) and staff at MEIDECC Vava’u, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MAFF) Vava’u and other stakeholders in Vava’u.
The team from the Department of Climate Change in Tongatapu will continue with the awareness activities in Ha’apai next week from the 22nd – 26th of July 2019.
