Primary Role

The Chief Executive Officer is the principal officer of the Fund and is responsible to the Fund Board for assisting it to develop and plan the strategic direction of the Fund, ensuring the proper and efficient operation of the Fund through the achievement of its financial objectives, compliance and legislative requirements, and the attainment of Member growth and satisfaction targets, by providing competitive superannuation services and products to Members and their employers.

Nature and Scope

  • The CEO reports directly the Fund Board through the Honourable Chairman of the Fund Board. Both parties are responsible for ensuring a productive relationship that is well balanced between proactiveness and responsiveness and focused on effective leadership.
  • The CEO is responsible for ensuring the Fund Board and its Committees are well served by the Executive.
  • As principal Officer, the CEO bears ultimate responsibility for all activities of the Fund and is its public face.
  • The CEO works with the Fund Board to develop strategic and annual work plans, reports regularly on progress against plan objectives and provides the Fund Board with options to manage adverse situations which may compromise achievement of those objectives.

The CEO must stay up-to-date with developments in theory and practice in superannuation and provident plan design, business administration and other relevant areas.

Experience and Qualification

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position with proven operational management experience of at least 15 years in a senior leadership and management position with proven high performance delivery in policy, strategy, program administration and staff supervision and performance management in a relevant Organisation.
  • Must have completed study programme and obtained Advanced Diploma qualification in Superannuation, from a recognised Institution.
  • Must be a Fellow of the Association Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) or similar Institution
  • Term of Appointment: Contract term of up to five (5) years.
  • Remuneration: Based on Retirement Fund Board CEO, Remuneration package.
