22nd March, 2019 TONGAN In accordance with the directions made to the Attorney General’s Office in the Supreme Court Order dated 14 March 2019, the Attorney General’s Office wishes to inform the public that, after a Special General Meeting that was convened on Saturday 9 March 2019, and chaired by the Acting Attorney General in his capacity as Amicus Curiae (‘Friend of the Court’) in the civil case of (1) Silivenusi Taumoepeau (2) Evona Latu, (3) Suiti Leilani ‘Alatini, (4) Siona Tu’akalau v (1) Semisi Sika, (2) Stan Moheloa (3) Tonga National Rugby League Incorporated Society, CV 21/2018, the Representatives of the Members of the Tonga National Rugby Leagues Incorporated Society elected the following persons as the new Tonga National Rugby League Board of Directors:
(1) Chairman of the Board of Directors: Mr Siaosi Koloamatangi, Kolomu’a
(2) Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors: Mr Petuliki Mafile’o, Kolonga
(3) Director of Kolofo’ou District: Mr Silivenusi Taumoepeau, Kolomu’a
(4) Director of Kolomotu’a District: Mr Heimuli Pangai, Toa-ko-Ma’afu
(5) Director of Vahe Loto District: Mr Lokingi Mavae, Vaini;
(6) Director of Vahe Hahake District: Mr Siamelie Latu, Mu’a Saints
(7) Director of Vahe Hihifo District: Mr Tonga Fonua, Ha’akame
(8) Secretary: Mr William C. Edwards Jr, Kolomu’a
In accordance with the Supreme Court Order dated 16 November 2018, this new Board of Directors is “to carry on the affairs of the League, one of which shall be to have the finances of the League properly audited by a properly qualified chartered accountant”.
Once the proper audit is completed, the new Board of Directors will then convene an Annual General Meeting to elect a new Board of Directors and to consider the normal agenda for such meeting.
Hon Semisi Sika, Deputy Prime Minister, remains as the President of the Tonga National Rugby League, and Hon Tevita ‘Unga Ma’afu remains as the Vice-President of the Tonga National Rugby League, until replaced in an election in an Annual General Meeting.
