15th February, 2019 As part of the continuing efforts by police to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs that negatively impact our communities, Police Drugs Enforcement Taskforce arrested a 26-year-old man of Kolomotu’a and seized illicit drugs, illegal ammunition and drugs paraphernalia on Tuesday 12 of February 2019.
The suspect was arrested from a bush allotment in Havelu with cannabis seeds, 10 live ammunition and drug paraphernalia. He has been charged with possession of illicit drugs and possession of illegal ammunition.
He is remanded in police custody to appear at the Magistrate Court at a later date.
Also on Tuesday, 12 February 2019 at around 10:00pm the Police Drugs Enforcement Taskforce seized 29 cannabis plants from a bush allotment at Fonongahina.
No suspect has been arrested for this seizure.
Deputy Commissioner Pelenatita Vaisuai says that Police are committed to disrupt and detect the supply of drugs and hold those responsible to account.
Police, Partner Agencies and Community together will win this war against drugs and safeguard our children and the future of Tonga from its ill effects.
