05th July 2018 The 59th birthday of His Majesty King Tupou VI was celebrated yesterday July 4 at Pangai Ha’apai, a public holiday for Tonga.
The official celebration began with a military parade by His Majesty’s Armed Forces at Lea’aetohi Ground attended by the members of the Royal Family, the Maori King, Nobles of the Realm, Ministers of the Crown, Members of the diplomatic corps, guests and hundreds of people.
A service of Celebrations and Thanksgiving was conducted after the parade at the King Tupou I Church (FWC) at Pangai led by the Royal Chaplain and President of the Free Wesleyan Church Rev. Dr. ‘Ahio.
In a birthday greeting read by Rev. Dr. ‘Ahio he said, “May God grant you wisdom and insight to oversee what is best for your people. To grant you with knowledge and ability on leading his people throughout this life time. God is your joyfulness and no evil spirit will challenge you. It is our sincere hope and wish that God will richly bless and clothe you, with many more years and bring you good wealth.”
After the thanksgiving service, a royal luncheon was held at Lea’aetohi Ground hosted by the FWC Annual Conference.
Today, His Majesty is visiting the Ministry of Fisheries Special Management Areas (Faleloa, Ha’ano, Lofanga) with a Royal luncheon at Felemea, one of the SMAs sites.
