5th Pacific Media Summit wraps up in Nuku’alofa

11th May, 2018 The 5th Pacific Media Summit was wrapped up today with the Annual General Meeting and Retreat for the Pacific media.

Managing Director of the National Broadcasting Corporation of Papua New Guinea, Kora Nou has been elected as the new President of the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA).

The General Manager of BroadCom Broadcasting Ms. Katalina Uili-Tohi was elected as the new Vice President, the first time for a Tongan to hold such post in PINA.

New Board Members include the Director of Solomon Star Newspaper Ms. Hilda Lamani for print, Mr. George Lavaka of BroadCom Broadcasting for Radio, Ms. Viola Ulakai of Tonga Broadcasting Commission for television, Mr. Stanley Simpson for the National Media Association and Mr. Iliesa Tora for the New Media.

The new board members are expected to move PINA forward and implement a new five-year Strategic Plan that was endorsed by PINA members today.

The new hosting country for the 6th Pacific Media Summit is Solomon Islands.

PINA President and Board Members will serve in the office from 2018 to 2020.
