Government Partial Funding of School Rebuilding

11^th May 2018 The World Bank has undertaken to provide financial assistance for the second phase of the reconstruction as a result of Cyclone Gita. However that assistance is not likely to be received until later in the year and because of that, Cabinet has made the following decisions –

1. That the Government will fund part of the material for the rebuilding of schools affected by Cyclone Gita;

2. That all building material that are to be imported for the above purpose be exempted from import duty;

3. That the Government provide the relevant technical assistance to ensure compliance with the Building Code.

An update on the above work will be provided in due course.
