2nd February,2018 Police have arrested a 25-year-old man yesterday Thursday 1st February from a bush allotment in Tatakamotonga at around 2:00pm, in relation to the housebreaking and theft at Office Equipment on Saturday 6th January 2018.
Police enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage from inside the building, have confirmed the 25 year old accused as the suspect. Police also searched the place where he was arrested from and found clothes that match those worn by the burglar as identified from the security footage.
“This is excellent work by the Police Criminal Investigation Unit in locating and arresting this man responsible for this burglary,” says Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea.
“Burglary is a crime that affects not only the shop owners, but also the community, and we will make sure that criminals are held to account for their actions.”
The suspect has been charged with housebreaking and theft and is remanded in Police custody to appear at the Nuku’alofa Magistrate Court later today
